Annie Ramirez, Apryl Eppinger bag gold at Asian Jiu-jitsu Championship 2017

Annie Ramirez and Apryl Eppinger would not be denied at the 2nd Asian Jiu-jitsu Championship 2017.

Ramirez bagged double gold at the tournament held at Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Hanoi, Vietnam over the weekend. Her first gold came in her weight class (-55kgs) in the purple belt division, where she bested Thailand’s Siramol Deepudsa by armbar to claim the top spot on the podium.

Her second gold medal came in the open weight division, where she beat Thailand’s Onanong Sangsirichok also by armbar in the finals.

Ramirez wasn’t the only gold-medalist from Team Philippines, which consisted of several of the country’s top grapplers. Apryl Eppinger also bagged the gold in her division (-62kgs), defeating South Korea’s Youni Lee to capture the gold.

Additionally, notable BJJ world champ Meggie Ochoa also had a strong showing, as she bagged the bronze medal in the -49kgs division.
