“Bad Girl” Nagaowa wins WIBA title

Filipina boxer/ mixed martial artist Jujeath “Bad Girl” Nagaowa has added another belt to her collection.

The former WBC Asia atomweight champion recently locked horns with Luo Yu Jie in her second boxing match of the year. After 10 brutal rounds, Nagaowa bested her Chinese opponent via unanimous decision to claim the WIBA International Jr. flyweight title.

After her fight at the Macau de Forum under the Vwin promotion, Nagaowa spoke with DojoDrifter.com to reveal that she was a late entry in the fight, yet that didn’t stop her from claiming victory.

“Super saya ko po syempre kasi di ko talaga in-expect na mamanalo ako 100 percent kasi biglaan lang yung offer na yun. Replacement lang ako. Yun nga po kung kelan di ko inasahan, dun naman talagang may surprise,” says Nagaowa, whose last two fights have been in the ring, not in the cage.

Masaya ako dahil parang na-redeem ko yung sarili ko sa past na talo ko at kasama ko pa ang dream coach ko sa laban na ito,” she adds.

Prior to this victory, “Bad Girl” dropped a unanimous decision against Louisa Hawton in Australia last May. She says that despite a hard weight cut for that match, she’s still glad she showed up to fight.

Di ko pa siguro time nun at talagang pang minimum lang siguro ang weight ko,” she says of her fight with Hawton. “Parang yung struggle ko that time yung weight at condition ko. Pero ano pa man yun, at least tapos na. Lumaban din naman po ako no matter what.”

Prior to her May loss, she enjoyed an undefeated streak in MMA that saw her go 2-0 under Asian promotion ONE Championship. Nagaowa is now back to her winning ways, and there’s no doubt she has redeemed herself from her loss to Hawton by capturing the WIBA title.
