Carlo Laurel took on Florian Samy in Malaysia and walked away with the armbar submission victory.

Prior to this fight, Laurel had been on a skid after picking up losses to top-notch URCC competitors like Alvin Ramirez and CJ de Tomas. However, the brash flyweight got himself back into the winner’s circle in his latest bout.

“The Samurai,” who’s been living and training in Malaysia as of late, took on Florian Samy at Ultimate Beatdown, held at Plaza Sentosa Johor Bahru in Malaysia. There, he used his superior grappling to subdue his opponent.

Laurel, who’s a BJJ blue belter with Ronin BJJ, was relentless on the ground, gaining superior position and attacking with both strikes and submission attempts. A slick transition to an armbar from the mount position forced Samy to tap.

With that, Laurel gets back to his winning ways on his road back into title contention.
