Conor McGregor will get his second crack at Nate Diaz at UFC 200, marking his second consecutive bout outside of his division. But after this fight, no matter the outcome, the Irishman will be moving back to featherweight to finally defend his belt. The question is: against whom?

UFC president Dana White recently went on record explaining how the McGregor-Diaz rematch came about. According to White, he and Lorenzo Fertitta discouraged “The Notorious” to pursue a rematch with Diaz let alone at 170lbs, but an “obsessed” McGregor wouldn’t let up. Lo and behold, he got his way. In July, McGregor will get a chance to avenge his UFC 196 submission loss to Diaz.

White says, however, that “win, lose, or draw” against Diaz, McGregor will be heading back to featherweight¬†to defend his belt against either Jose Aldo or Frankie Edgar. Who will it be? We’ll find out at UFC 200.

Aldo and Edgar are set to fight for the interim title on the same card as Diaz and McGregor. And what they’ll be fighting for is less about the interim belt¬†but more about the supposedly guaranteed shot at McGregor and his undisputed title.

Aldo is coming off a 13-second KO against the Irishman. Edgar, meanwhile has won 5 consecutive bouts, including finishes over BJ Penn, Cub Swanson, and Chad Mendes. He’s earned a title shot in the eyes of many, but he’ll have to do away with Aldo in their rematch to finally get his shot at McGregor and his belt.
