DC vs. Rumble rematch to headline UFC 206 in Toronto

Toronto just got its new main event for UFC 206: A rematch between Daniel “DC” Cormier and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.

The card scheduled for December 10 will feature this rematch for the light heavyweight belt.

The two first clashed at UFC 187 in Las Vegas last year. Johnson was a late replacement for Jon Jones, who was suspended due to legal issues, which stripped him of his title. Johnson and “DC” fought for the vacant title, with Cormier winning via 3rd-round submission to capture the belt.

On UFC Tonight, Cormier announced that their rematch was set:

“The city of Toronto is still buzzing after the Blue Jays’ walk-off home run last night,” Cormier said. “The only thing more exciting than that is that I am defending the undisputed UFC light heavyweight title in the Six on December 10 at UFC 206, only on pay-per-view. Down will go Rumble…again.”

Since his loss to “DC”, “Rumble” has fought thrice, winning all outs via KO, including a 13-second destruction of Glover Teixeira.

Cormier has only fought once since their first match. It was at UFC 200 against Anderson Silva, a late replacement for Jon Jones, who was pulled from the card due to banned substance issues with the US Anti-doping Agency (USADA).
