Drex Zamboanga’s persistence results in a URCC title shot

Drex Zamboanga

Hard work pays off for Drex Zamboanga with a URCC title shot slated in June.

Sheer excitement has Drex Zamboanga restless, and for a good reason. He received news from the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) regarding his upcoming title fight. A thrilled Zamboanga posted this screenshot on social media:

A veteran of seven URCC fights with a record of 5 wins and 2 losses, Zamboanga had a taste of crowning glory from a different organization back in 2016. He claimed Fullcon Fighting Championship’s inaugural bantanweight title in Baguio City. According to “The T-Rex,” he lacked striking and conditioning training for that particular fight, in spite of the win. This time around, he and his coaches are ready for a full training camp.

Whether or not he has a scheduled bout, Zamboanga diligently keeps himself in top form at the gym. He shared to Dojo Drifter: “Hindi nawawala ang sparring for both grappling and striking. Once or twice a week ang sparring sa striking and then everyday sa grappling.” He prides himself on pushing his limits as he quips, “Hindi ko pinapabayaan ang training ko kahit may konting injury nararamdaman, I still go forward para sa goal and dream ko.”

Zamboanga’s potential foe is the dangerous striker Rex de Lara, a former URCC bantamweight and WLC champion. While he’s waiting for URCC’s official word, Zamboanga says he will use an intelligent game plan and strategy to defeat whoever he faces.
