The biggest card in UFC history takes a hit, a PXC fighter from South Korea KOs a title contender, and a Filipino MMA hero aims for greener pastures. All these and more in another installment of the Drifter Rundown.

During the course of the week, the UFC has invaded Las Vegas with a trifecta of shows: UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs Alvarez, The Ultimate Fighter Finale, and UFC 200. While legions of MMA fans around the world are buzzing about this three-day line-up, the main event for UFC 200 suddenly took a huge blow.

Jon Jones out of the UFC 200 main event
A few days away from his rematch against defending light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones was removed from the UFC 200 card. The US Ant-Doping Agency (USADA) reported Jones’ violation from an out-of-competition test sample from June 16, 2016. This news came as a shock to the organization and its fans. At one point, the card’s main event was announced to be the Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt bout. But in the end, the Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes women’s bantamweight title fight took over as the night’s top attraction.

‘The Spider’ saves the day
So what’s left of a very disappointed Daniel Cormier? A handful of fighters expressed willingness to face DC and save the card, until Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva was called to replace Jon Jones. In a clip posted on Dana White’s Facebook page, the UFC President simply said, “He’s back,” while pointing at Anderson Silva. The former middleweight champ replied, “I’m back.”

Eddie Alvarez defeats RDA for the UFC lightweight title
Former Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez silently arrived in the UFC with a split decision loss to Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. Since then, he won two straight over big-name fighters Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis. When the time came to face defending champ Rafael dos Anjos, he went full blast and KO’d RDA in the first round. In an interview right after the fight, an emotional Alvarez quipped, “Rafael dos Anjos was top five pound for pound and I took him out.”

A focused Han Seul Kim finishes ‘The Crank’
With Zebaztian Kadestam out because of an injury, Han Seul Kim stepped in as a replacement to face the contender Frank ‘The Crank’ Camacho. Prior to the The South Korean Kim talked to Dojo Drifter about spoiling the Camacho’s welterweight debut, and he was more than successful. He KO’d the hometown favorite in the very first round and now has his eyes set on avenging his loss to Kadestam.
