URCC Fight Night
Following the massive URCC 27: Rebellion card last April, Asia’s longest running MMA promotion stepped on the gas pedal and returned with URCC Fight Night. A celebrity match aka ‘Bigwasan’ between Kiko Matos and Baron Geisler took the spotlight, but the fighters stood out and put on a show that night for the madding crowd. Chris Hofmann went up against Arvin Chan and claimed his victory while Yaw-Yan Kampilan’s MJ Abrillo submitted Eddie Estrada, a Yaw-Yan Buhawi fighter.

John Dodson in Manila
A few months back, top welterweight Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson came to the Philippines and met with the fans. Just last weekend, it was John ‘The Magician’ Dodson‘s turn. Dodson, a part Filipino, did some exhibition drills with PXC title holder Jenel Lausa, BJJ world champ Eros Baluyot, and local MMA personality Erwin Tagle.

This time around, local MMA fighters are vying to get a coveted spot on the card.

On a brighter note, Georges St. Pierre, arguably the greatest UFC fighter, has announced he’ll return to fighting after a very long time away from the Octagon. It’s uncertain yet who will he face or when will his match take place, but a lot of middleweight fighters have commented on the former welterweight champ anticipated comeback.

Dojo Drifter spoke to Fitial and he said he’s excited to return to fighting. The addition of this heavyweight title holder is expected to leave an impact in the Asian region.
