Eduard Folayang will attempt his first ONE lightweight title defense in Manila, and it will be against Ev Ting.
Folayang picked up the biggest win of his career in 2016 in Singapore when he dethroned long-time champ and revered grappler Shinya Aoki via TKO to win the lightweight belt.
Since then, the fighter from Team Lakay has received international praise and recognition and national awards for his achievement. However, it will be back to the usual grind for Folayang as he’s set to make his first title defense in front of the home fans.
ONE Championship announced in a press release that Ev Ting will get a crack at Folayang and his belt when the promotion visits the MOA Arena on April 21.
Ting, who lives and trains in New Zealand, is a former featherweight title-challenger who is well-versed in both striking and grappling. He’s coming off a split decision win over former UFC fighter Kamal Shalorus last February.
