Members of the Filipino MMA community came together to help Alvin Ramirez overcome a harrowing injury.

Two weeks ago, URCC veteran Alvin Ramirez broke his arm during his fight with Jiar Castillo, suffering a defeat by corner stoppage. The injury was severe, and it had Ramirez’s coach Rey Yap urging people to provide his fighter with financial assistance for medical treatment.

Those pleas were heard and answered by members of the local MMA community.

“Most of my friends helped me, pati mga huge names sa MMA scene,” Ramirez told DojoDrifter.com.

Those who provided medical and financial aid included longtime URCC referee Franco Rulloda, URCC official Alfred Gealogo, and former URCC PR officer Isay Roque. The Yaw-yan Buhawi fighter also said that the insurance coverage provide by the URCC and its insurance partner Llyods Insurance helped him with his medical concerns.

“Girlfriend ko malaking tulong sa akin, pati family niya,” he added. “Team mates ko: Tin and Eikel Ladores, Bam Paragas, Bong Garchitorena, Michael Rubi, Jordan Balcita, and my brothers from Yaw-yan San Francisco, USA, all helped me. My family also and my mother, especially my orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jonathan Jardiolin.”

Ramirez says he was advised to recover for the next six months before returning to training, but he’s in high spirits that he’ll recover and be back in action in no time.
