Slated this 2017 are five UFC events in Asia Pacific starting in Singapore.
“We are going to do five events in the Asia-Pacific region this year including Australia,” says Joe Carr, UFC Senior Vice President, during a press conference held yesterday in Grand Hyatt Hotel, Singapore.
Carr also revealed that the UFC’s campaign will kick-off with UFC Fight Night Singapore on June 17, 2017. “This is not a local Asia series. This is part of our UFC Fight Nights. No different from the ones in the United States or Brazil or Europe. So it’ll be of the same quality,” he adds.
It has been three years since a UFC event took place in the “Lion City.” And although the fight card is yet to be announced, Carr promises it will feature great action.
This coming Fall, the UFC targets another event in Saitama Super Arena, Japan. As for the third and final stop in Asia, Carr kept it undisclosed. Meanwhile, MMA fans in Australia can cheer for two events coming later this year.
After the five UFC events in Asia has been revealed, the talks of a Chinese MMA superstar signing with the UFC has slightly emerged. While no information was revealed, Carr affirms that the Chinese market is one of their priorities.
