Gokhan Saki to face Khalil Rountree at UFC 219

Gokhan Saki

If you became a fan of Gokhan Saki following his impressive UFC debut in Japan, here’s some good news for you!

Gokhan Saki (1-1 MMA 1-0 UFC) will make a quick return to the Octagon this December in UFC’s yearender card as he takes on Khalil Rountree (6-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) at UFC 219.

After a successful MMA comeback last September in Japan, Saki will try to keep his momentum going to end the year with a bang. The former kickboxing champ stopped Luis Henrique da Silva in Saitama, Japan in his UFC debut, which came 13 years after his first pro MMA bout.

Now, he will look to make up for lost time under the UFC banner.

By contrast, his opponent Rountree, 27, is having a great 2017 so far, having racked up back-to-back stoppage wins over Daniel Jolly and Paul Craig. “The War Horse” Rountree looks to end the year undefeated with a win over the former K-1 and Glory champion.

The promotion hasn’t announced the main event of UFC 219 as of this writing. However, the card already has bouts between former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and Jimmie Rivera and welterweights Carlos Condit and Neil Magny.

Here are the announced bouts for UFC 219 so far:

Dominick Cruz vs Jimmie Rivera
Carlos Condit vs Neil Magny
Gokhan Saki vs Khalil Rountree
Cynthia Calvillo vs Carla Esparza
Louis Smolka vs Matheus Nicolau
