Jenel “The Demolition Man” Lausa will make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night Melbourne on November 27 (26th PH Time).
Lausa’s promotional debut was scheduled for UFC Fight Night Manila on October 15 against China’s Yao “The Conqueror” Zhikui. However, a rib injury to the card’s supposed headliner BJ Penn forced the rescheduling of the entire event. A press release announcing this change also stated that the fighters on the card would be moved to upcoming events.
The Filipino won’t have to wait too long for his turn inside the Octagon, as he’s set to face Yao at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, according to a UFC press release.
Additionally, another fighter from the supposed Manila card, Australia’s Alex Volcanovski, has been added to the Melbourne card. At UFC Manila, he was slated to face Guam’s Jon Tuck. However, he’ll be fighting Japan’s Yusuke Kasuya at UFC Melbourne.
The Melbourne card will be headlined by former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champ Luke Rockhold and former Strikeforce middleweight champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. This will be a rematch of their 2011 title fight, where Rockhold took Souza’s Strikeforce title via unanimous decision.
