Jessica Andrade targets fight with Karolina Kowalkiewicz

Andrade Kowalkiewicz

Jessica Andrade has sights set on the recently victorious Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Fresh off her win in her home country of Poland, Karolina Kowalkiewicz apparently has someone waiting to fight her: Jessica Andrade.

In an Instagram post, “Bate Estaca” Andrade expressed her desire to face the Polish strawweight after the latter’s unanimous decision win over at UFC Gdansk against Jodie Esquibel. The 26-year-old Brazilian is coming off a win of her own, topping compatriot Claudia Gadelha last month in Saitama, Japan.

“Will @ufc give me this fight? I already asked and I come here to reinforce, I really want this fight, come on,” Andrade said in her native language.

The two female UFC strawweights are currently in a good position once again fight for the title. If their showdown pushes through, Andrade and Kowalkiewicz, who are ranked number 1 and 3 respectively, could further enhance their chances of a title shot with another victory. Meanwhile, reigning champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk is set to defend her belt against Rose Namajunas in a few weeks time.

And as for Kowalkiewicz, she isn’t opposed to the idea of fighting the Brazilian.

“Now I need three days for vacation and after that I want a fight with Jessica Andrade,” she said during the post-fight conference.
