Killer UFC Match-ups to Look Forward to

Here are the up-coming UFC events til the end of 2011. The dates here are for Philippine time–not US–so don’t make the mistake of tuning in on a Monday when the fights are already yesterday’s news!

This Sunday, November 13. UFC on Fox. Velasquez vs. Dos Santos. (10:30 am on Balls)

This fight is for the heavyweight title and should be a milestone for the UFC. Even though compatriot Manny Pacquiao will be taking on Juan Manuel Marquez on the same day, I’ll be tuned in to UFC on Fox; go get ’em Manny! For Cain vs. JDS, my money’s on the MexiCAIN! Also on the card:  Clay “The Carpenter” Guida vs. former-WEC champ Ben Henderson for the next shot at Frankie Edgar in Japan.

Sunday, November 20. UFC 139. Shogun vs. Henderson.

Two old-school Pride and UFC vets will slug it out in Dan Henderson’s return to the Octagon. The main event will determine who climbs to the top of the light-heavyweight ranks while the co-main event features Cung Le’s debut in the UFC against “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlai Silva. Also on the card: Urijah Faber vs Brian Bowles for the no. 1 contender spot in the bantamweight division.

Sunday, December 4. The Ultimate Fighter Finale 14. Team Miller vs. Team Bisping.

In the finale of TUF Season 14, two contestants will slug it out to win a six-figure contract with the UFC. Headlining the event will be tough Brit Michael Bisping as he rudely welcomes Jason “Mayhem” Miller to the UFC.

Sunday, December 11. UFC 140. Jones vs. Machida.

In a highly-anticipated match-up, light-heavyweight champ Jon “Bones” Jones will attempt to defend his title against the elusive former-champ, Lyoto Machida. Styles make fights and these two fighters are sure to clash and provide fireworks come December 11th. Also on the card: a rematch in the heavyweight division between former-champions Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Noguera, and a LHW bout between bad-boy Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio “Lil Nog” Noguera.

Saturday, December 31. UFC 141. Lesnar vs. Overeem.

2011 is guaranteed to end with a bang thanks to the BIGGEST up-coming fight between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem for the next crack at the heavyweight strap. This HW showdown should be an exciting one as two of the biggest fighters and names in the division go head-to-head. Also on the card: perennial top-contender Jon Fitch vs. up-and-comer Johny Hendricks in the welterweight division, and Nate Diaz vs. Donald Cerrone in the lightweight division.

Don’t miss any one of these fights because each promises to greatly alter the MMA landscape. Enjoy!
