Looking Ahead to URCC XX

This Saturday, URCC XX will take place at the World Trade Center, Manila. Both Filipino and foreign fighters will step into the ring to slug it out for MMA supremacy. This event will host some of the best MMA talent in the Philippines and will feature a light-heavyweight title fight between Deftac’s Chris Luna and Hybrid Yaw-Yan’s Nicholas Mann, as well as a battle for the heavyweight crown between Igor Subora and Ryan Paglinawan. Headlining this event will be a bantamweight superfight between Jessie Rafols and Red Romero.
Why the URCC is well-known for having fast and explosive fighters, it also showcases very skilled heavyweights. Everybody loves to watch two big men go at it, and we’ll have exactly that when Igor Subola and Ryan Paglinawan throw down. The Ukranian Subora hails from the Sprawl MMA gym and has displays very powerful striking. Hybrid Yaw-yan’s Paglinawan, on the other hand, augments his Judo and grappling skills with dynamic striking as well. Here’s a quick teaser for the heavyweight showdown:
As the top MMA organization, the UFC does a terrific job of promoting their fights and fighters. It is their in-depth display of the lives, the training, and the personalities of their fighters that helps them connect with fans and gain interest in their events. As the biggest MMA company in the Philippines, it would take a greater awareness of MMA and a deeper knowledge of the fighters to help catapult it into the mainstream. This will prove to be lucrative for the URCC, for the fighter, and for the fans. With promotional posters and videos like the one posted below, the URCC will be able to promote itself more efficiently. It is comforting to see the URCC making such efforts, to acknowledge the fighters, promote the fights, and introduce fans to the sport of MMA.Of course promotion alone will not be enough to get the URCC to the next level; the skill level of its fighters matters largely. But with such a well-established organization playing its cards right, MMA in the country is bound to get bigger.

That being said, this event is sure to be an exciting one. We can all look forward to some solid MMA action come November 5th.
