Surrounded by the media during a scrum, Pacquiao answered a number questions ranging from how he’s preparing for the upcoming fight to fellow boxers calling out UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor.
When asked about his reaction to Floyd Mayweather, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Amir Khan taking verbal shots to the “Notorious” one, the fighting Senator from Sarangani, Philippines thinks that McGregor doesn’t stand a chance against “Money” in the boxing ring.
“You know, McGregor, he can fight in his…in MMA fight against Floyd Mayweather, but if he’s talking about fighting Mayweather in the ring in boxing, there’s now way (Conor can defeat him),” Pacquiao responded to the question.
Following a brief retirement after his win over Timothy Bradley, Jr., Pacquiao said he’s also open to fighting the Irish UFC champion but not in the cage. He described McGregor as a shark in his territory.
“Of course,” Pacquiao uttered. “As long as it’s in the rules of boxing. I cannot fight in MMA because he knows how to fight in MMA but boxing, it’s like how can you fight a shark in the ocean? But if you fight the shark in the dry land, then you’re…[sic]”
