Mark Munoz gives Jenel Lausa some wrestling tips backstage at the UFC Promo Tour at SM Megamall.
Munoz says he wants to help boost MMA in the Philippines by spreading his wrestling knowledge, and he isn’t joking. For the past 2 years or so, he’s been in and out of the Philippines, doing open workouts, holding wrestling and MMA seminars, and interacting with fans and other members of the community.
The former NCAA Division I wrestler coaches wrestling in the US and even trains pro fighters like current UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping. He’s a natural coach, and his coaching instinct kicked in after he saw newly signed Filipino UFC fighter Jenel Lausa’s open workout at the UFC Promo Tour at SM Megamall.
Lausa showcased his strikes and takedown defense at the event, which also featured UFC featherweight contender Max Holloway. As soon as Lausa and his demo partner, Ernie Braca, got off stage, Munoz was quick to give both men some tips on takedown defense.
Lausa makes his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night Manila this October 15 against China’s Yao Zhikui.
