Naoki Inoue suffers injury, fight with Jenel Lausa scrapped

Naoki Inoue Injury

An Naoki Inoue injury has forced his matchup with Jenel Lausa to be pulled from the UFC Fight Night card in Saitama, Japan this September.

UFC Saitama will have one less matchup as the flyweight bout between Naoki Inoue and Jenel Lausa has been scrapped due to an injury to Inoue.

Philippine Vision Group (PVG), which represents Lausa, announced the development in a media scrum yesterday in Pasig City. According to PVG, they are in talks with the UFC about a possible bout for Lausa in the coming months. Two of the targeted cards are UFC Sydney and UFC Shanghai.

Coming off a unanimous decision win over fellow newcomer CJ de Tomas in Singapore, the 18-year old Inoue sustained an injury two weeks before the fight.

Inoue’s manager Shu Hirata also confirmed the unfortunate news to Dojo Drifter.

Lausa, on the other hand, is eyeing to bounce back from his loss to top flyweight Magomed Bibulatov in the undercard of UFC 210 in Buffalo, New York. Unfortunately, “The Demolition Man” will have to wait a bit longer before getting back into the winner’s circle.

With that, featherweight Rolando Dy becomes the lone Filipino fighter on the Japan card as he takes on Teruto Ishihara.
