“Superman” has brought another title to Guam with a fourth-round submission win at PXC 56.
JJ Ambrose wins the new Pacific Xtreme Combat lightweight title with a fourth round submission victory over Takahiro Ashida in the main event of PXC 56 in Guam last weekend.
The 30-year old Ambrose took the fight to the ground where he had most success. But Ashida gave “Superman” a scare after landing a well-timed knee to the head in the second round. In the end, the Ambrose came out on top after securing a tight guillotine choke of the Japanese’s takedown attempt in the fourth. Securing both the title and his twenty-eighth career win.
In the co-main event, former PXC heavyweight titleholder Kelvin Fitial returned to the win column, defeating Ben Sosoli.
“The Big Hit” showed some improvement in his striking, along with his cardio to edge the Australian by unanimous decision.
Also, Korean Top Team’s Jun Yong Park made a successful Terrordome debut. He submitted the highly-touted Ray Cooper III via D’Arce choke in the first round to snap the American’s eight-fight win streak.
