SEA trials winner Red Romero vows best performance in ROAD FC tourney

Red Romero

After winning the ROAD FC Southeast Asian trials a few weeks ago, Red Romero is excited for the challenges that lay ahead.

A few weeks ago, the former URCC featherweight champ moved up a weight class and fought twice in one night. He defeated Patrick Manicad and Rahul Raju to become the lone representative from Southeast Asia in the upcoming ROAD FC tournament.

The fighter from DEFTAC admitted that his preparation for the qualifiers didn’t go smoothly. Instead, he focused on his strengths in order to get through fight night.

But for the upcoming 16-man tournament that will start in the middle of the year, Romero knows that a typical fight camp won’t be enough if he wants to advance further. He knows that it’ll be an uphill climb as he’s set to face some of the region’s top 155-pounders, which includes former UFC vets and regional champions. Despite the odds, “The Filipino Bolo Punch” vows to give it his all while savoring the experience.

For the meantime, Romero sets his URCC title aspirations aside for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become tournament champion. And after his run in the ROAD FC tournament, he plans on facing former tormentor Do Gyeom Lee to reclaim the title he once lost.
