UFC 175 results: Urijah Faber chokes out Alex Caceres in the 3rd round

WEC and UFC veteran Urijah Faber chokes out Alex Caceres at UFC 175 in the third round.

Caceres did a great job of defending Faber’s takedowns throughout the fight, but in the third round, “The California Kid” managed to bring the fight to the mat and finish it via rear-naked choke.

The win came at the 1:09 mark of the 3rd round and improved Faber’s record to 31-7 in MMA, 7-3 UFC. Out of his 31 professional wins, his rear-naked choke win over Caceres marks his 16th submission win via choke.

After his win, the Team Alpha Male leader gave his thoughts on the fight:

“I would’ve liked to make that a lot easier, but this is the real world and it’s the fight game,” Faber said. “People have to understand that things will happen out there and it won’t always be an easy fight. He’s a guy that has a lot of range and he’s creative in the scrambles, so I wanted to make it a dirty, ugly fight. I think I may have broken my rib in the first round at some point. Not sure how that happened, but it might’ve slowed me down a bit. I really want to stay busy and get back in there as soon as possible. I haven’t really had the chance to fight on international cards, and I think that could be fun. Maybe the Japan show coming up.”
