Neil Magny registered the biggest win of his UFC career with a close split decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America II Finale in the Mexican city of Monterrey last Sunday (Philippine time).

Taking the fight on short notice for the injured Matt Brown, Magny used his reach against the TUF 17 winner be it standing up or on the ground.

Gastelum came back strong in the fourth after being dominated throughout the fight, dropping Magny twice in the round to win the last two rounds, but it wasn’t enough to get the majority of judges’ decision. The result: The second loss of his career.

Magny, on the other hand, picked up his second-straight victory after submitting to former middleweight challenger Demian Maia at UFC 190.

The co-main event saw Ricardo “The Bully” Lamas carve a unanimous decision win over Diego Sanchez in a fight where Lamas punished the left leg of “The Dream” in his first fight at featherweight. The sole active alum of the first Ultimate Fighter had to be assisted out of the cage after the fight due to the damaged his leg received.
