If things push through, the “Goldenboy” may finally get his first fight on foreign soil.
A title defense for the reigning Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) flyweight champ CJ de Tomas is on the horizon.
The 20-year-old champ announced through Facebook that he’ll be defending his belt overseas as the promotion heads to China this April.
The second-generation fighter was scheduled to face American Derrick Easterling in the promotion’s first-ever card in the US last January. However, visa issues prevented him from taking part in the event card.
With that, Easterling went on to fight and beat replacement fighter Mefi Monterroso to capture the interim title.
De Tomas tells Dojo Drifter that his opponent for the China card is yet to be determined and likely won’t be Easterling. Instead, he may meet the American on a later fight card set for the Philippines to unify their titles.
“July ata or August siya pupunta dito para ma-unify ung flyweight belt,” he said.
“Goldenboy” has a lot to look forward to, but now his sights are firmly set on his first ever overseas fight after going 8-0 in the local circuit.
URCC founder and president Alvin Aguilar tells Dojo Drifter that the event is set to take place in Beijing, China. More fight card announcements from the promotion will be made in the coming weeks.
