Team Lakay’s young gun Joshua Pacio fell short of winning the strawweight belt at ONE Championship’s event in Yangon, Myanmar.

Pacio established himself in the opening round, defending all takedown attempts of the Japanese fighter and landing counter strikes effectively.

In the second round, the defending champ scored takedowns on two occasions, allowing him to stay within Pacio’s guard for a sizeable portion of the round. The 20-year-old Filipino┬ánoticeable also resorted to looping overhand rights and uppercuts that glanced Naito.

In the third round, Naito shot in for a takedown and was able to get Pacio’s back. He locked in the rear-naked choke and got the tapout soon after.

This is Pacio’s first career loss as his record slides to 8-1. Naito, meanwhile, keeps his unbeaten streak going, improving to 12-0. This is the strawweight champ’s first title defense and his second consecuive win via rear-naked choke submission.
